Thanks Simon for spelling this all out so clearly. The only addition I have to make is: switch the order of #3 and #4 - the deriver requires metadata in order to run.

Oops, thanks for the correction.

When I mailed the netlabel owners just now I made the following point that I hadn't really thought of before:

'If everyone started uploading to netlabels in WAV or SHN format, that might ROCK - there would be a lossless version of the release around, and then a big choice of lossy ones (OGG, MP3, etc, etc.). So maybe people should start thinking about that for the future.'

Just a suggestion. Unfortunately, I don't always have access to lossless versions of prospective Monotonik releases, but I may try to do so in the future, time permitting :P
